Concerts of Prayer

Mac Pier and staff members from Here’s Life Inner City host a Concert of Prayer with 75 churches on February 5, 1988, at First Baptist Church in Flushing, N.Y. Over the next three decades, Concerts of Prayer Greater New York grows into a network of 2,000 churches.

1992

Pastors Prayer Summit

Concerts of Prayer holds the first Metro New York Pastors Prayer Summit. Local pastors unite for prayer, worship, communion, and fellowship. Held every January for over three and a half decades, the Pastors Prayer Summit has convened 6,000 pastors and leaders.

The Lord’s Watch
1995

The Lord’s Watch

Concerts of Prayer hosts The Lord's Watch, a 24/7 prayer vigil that mobilizes churches to seek God for revival, reconciliation, reformation, and reaching the lost. The Lord’s Watch continues for 10 years, witnessing many answers to prayer, including a decline in the NYC murder rate.

2003

Church Multiplication Alliance

Tim Keller and Mac Pier co-create the Church Multiplication Alliance, uniting leaders from various denominational backgrounds to train and support church planters. The effort contributes to a period of remarkable growth, with evangelical Christianity in Manhattan expanding 300% between 1989 and 2009.

2010

Movement Day NYC

The inaugural Movement Day is held in New York City, uniting marketplace, church, and parachurch leaders for collaboration around the greatest needs of the city. A movement is born as the historic event gathers 800 attendees from 34 states and 14 countries.

2016

Movement Day Global Cities

Movement Day Global Cities is convened in Manhattan with 3,000 delegates from 400 cities and 95 nations. Movement Day Global Cities is a catalyst for expansion of Gospel movements into other cities and countries in the coming years.

2018

Movement Day Publishing

Movement Day Publishing is established to create resources that equip leaders and advance city transformation and multiplication. With 11 titles to date, recent books have focused on New York City, Asia, Africa and the Balkans.

2020

Movement Day Scholars Program

The Movement Day Scholars Program is launched to equip Christian leaders to accelerate Gospel movements in cities overwhelmed by poverty, addiction, trafficking and other societal challenges. Since 2020, the Scholars Program has trained more than 2,000 leaders on five continents.

1000 Cities Summit
2024

1000 Cities Summit

Movement.org establishes the annual 1,000 Cities Summit in Washington, D.C., uniting philanthropic, marketplace and faith leaders around the vision of seeing Gospel movements impact 1,000 cities. The Summit provides a forum to share research and stories and mobilize strategic support for the 1,000 Cities vision.

2026

1000 Cities Campaign

Movement.org introduces the 1,000 Cities Campaign, building toward a 2029 gathering of 5,000 leaders representing 1,000 cities with existing Gospel movements. The Global Cities Summit will equip 1,000 city teams with Northstar Plans designed to guide transformative initiatives in their cities.
