Where a Global Movement Began

Since 1988, Movement.org has been a catalyst for united prayer and Gospel impact in Metro New York. Those roots have since grown into a global movement reaching more than 300 cities across five continents.

Demographics

New York City is home to nearly 8.6 million people, making it the largest city in the United States and one of the world’s most important urban centers.

More than one-third of New York City residents are foreign-born, and nearly half speak a language other than English at home, reflecting a city shaped by people and cultures from around the world.

One in four New Yorkers — nearly 2.2 million people, including about 450,000 children — lives in poverty, highlighting significant economic challenges alongside the city’s wealth and opportunity.

New York City is a global center of influence in finance, media, arts, culture and commerce, giving the city an outsized influence on ideas and culture around the world.

Since 1988

Tuesday afternoon prayer gatherings on Zoom connect local pastors and ministry leaders. The Pastors Prayer Summit, held each January, has convened 6,000 pastors and leaders over the last 36 years.

Movement Day

Movement Day NYC is hosted annually each October. Founded in 2010, this catalytic event brings together church, parachurch and marketplace leaders to work collaboratively to address the city’s greatest needs. Since the launch of Movement Day in New York, 60,000 leaders from 900 cities have participated in Movement Day gatherings globally.

Emerging Leaders Cohort

The ALI Emerging Leaders Cohort is a five-month leadership development program for Christian leaders ages 21–35 in the New York City Metro area. Through mentorship, hands-on learning and a collaborative group project, participants develop as leaders, strengthen their character and build relationships that last well beyond the program.
